Health Benefits of Cucumber

My favorite Cucumbers in the whole wide world

This is my favorite cucumber recipe and the cucumbers in the photo are my favorite cucumbers in the whole wide world.

1 thinly sliced cucumber

1 grated onion,

1 to 2 table spoons of fresh lemon or lime juice, depending on size of cucumber.

1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar,

salt, black pepper and hot pepper sauce to suit ones taste

Add a little olive, by choice

Stir thoroughly and leave to marinate

Was I aware that cucumber had any health benefits? not at all, I loved the taste and thought it was just water. When I ate meat and particularly souse, I would marinate the pork in the same mixture and let it sit for a few hours. This was  my favorites dish on Saturdays. Today I only eat fish.

  2. Thank you; I do enjoy the research and learn a lot for my own health. It is surprising how little people know about the foods we eat; if the did the health budgets would be a lot smaller.Best wishes.

  3. I love cucumbers. I eat them regularly, usually as part of a salad or just as a snack. They’re cheap and easy to prepare, which is one of the reasons I started to eat them. I definitely think adding cucumbers to my diet has helped, and I have been eating them regularly for years now!

  4. I love cucumbers, so I love your content about this. Yes, I agree with you that there are far more benefits cucumbers can give. What I initially know about this is that it serves as “water” for the body, but then the more I get into it, it actually has the powerful effect to the body in terms of providing the necessary nutrients our body needs.

Aside from its detoxifying capacity, it gives that refreshing feeling every time we eat slices of it. On top of that, I love it when I place cold cucumbers on top of my eyes after working a lot of hours in front of the PC. It really helps me to relax and to get rid of my eye bags (although they’re still so big). Still working on it, though. 🙂

  5. Thanks for the interesting article which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have always believed cucumbers to be healthy.  The are strongly alklising.  Many people are over acidic because of their diet and lifestyle choices. Eating alkaline foods like cucumbers helps them become less acid systemically. This can only be a good things because acidity is definitely a road to Ill health. I never realised that cucumbers originated in Asia. I know they are plentiful here and come in many sizes but didn’t grasp that they originated here. Your recipe looks interesting and I can’t wait to try it.

  6. It’s really wonderful to know that cucumber is one of the fruits with plenty of health benefits. Only now I’ve known that cucumber belongs to the watermelons. The more I would love to eat cucumber this time because it repairs hair and keeps kidneys in shape. Maybe this is one of the solutions to melt my kidney stones although I’ve read pepper of any kind can cause kidney stone so I would avoid that.

Thank you for this information that helped and enlightened me.

  7. I’ve always considered cucumber as a vegetable rather than fruit but your perspective has given me a lot to think about. It’s one of the vegetables (in your case fruits), I never let go of my list and I like taking it raw as you stated.  However, I never delved into its health benefit until reading your article. After reading, it makes me want to take more and I’m grateful for the valuable information you’ve provided here.

Hope to come around sometimes to check on new articles.

  8. Every day I am what a loss as to who no one introduced health education in all schools, if only to teach us about the foods we eat. Every ready should join a lobbying initiative. Thanks for the visit.
